Original (available) – Remnants style oil painting.
Inspired by the attraction in Disney Magic Kingdom. The original painting is a pentaptych measuring 106×50.
A 3D Textured Replica of the original painting - Pre-release on August 16th!
This painting is my first to be printed with the 3D high technology for scanning and printing with textures.
It is an exact textured replica of the original painting on a smaller scale. The print includes all the strokes from the original, not just added textures, but THE real strokes.
We had noticed that people were drawn to the textures from the original paintings. I have been researching for a while to find the perfect process that would enable to print with all the vivid colors and the textures from the original.
While searching, I found an artist (Erin Hanson) who is using 3D printing technology to do this! After investigating further into this, (which included a trip across the country for a tour of Erin’s facility in Oregon), I was so excited to realize that it was possible! Next step was to find a company much closer where I could bring my originals to have them scanned in 3D and then printed with the textures.
The process being somewhat quite new in the Fine Art environment, I couldn’t find anyone in Florida. I had to drive to Atlanta with my 5 panels in the back of my car to hand them over to be scanned and printed and patiently waiting for the final result.
The samples finally arrived and we were absolutely stunned by the results. So we are now very proud to be offering 3D Textured Replicas of Small World in two different formats that will be pre-release at our next signing in Art of Disney in Disney Springs from August 16th to August 25th. Come and see by yourself! Touch them! Feel the textures?
Remnants style:
Greg taught me the technique. He created the style tired of throwing away the left over paint from his Disney painting whenever he was cleaning his palette. The idea of abstract painting with left over paint came as a good way of recycling it. Initially the Remnants were mainly used for abstract painting. Then it developed into a way of painting Disney characters as well.
