Havin’ Fun

2020 – by Nath McCullough

Original (sold) – Remnants style oil painting

This was my first original painting. It was released in January 2021 at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. The inspiration is from the Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway attraction in Hollywood Studios. I was having so much fun painting this. Red is my favorite color. I love the ride and Mickey and Minnie were also having a great time. It came naturally to title it “Havin’ Fun”.

I had never thought I would be painting Disney characters one day and even less thought I would be selling my paintings at Disney. It was surreal to see it hung on the wall at Disney for the first time. I will always remember when I got the email from the Management letting me know the painting was sold. I was on my way driving back home. I read the email while waiting at a red light and got very excited and couldn’t wait to be home to tell Greg!

Being the first one, the challenge was enough just to paint 😀 No hidden Mickeys in there…

Remnants style:

Greg taught me the technique. He created the style tired of throwing away the left over paint from his Disney painting whenever he was cleaning his palette. The idea of abstract painting with left over paint came as a good way of recycling it. Initially the Remnants were mainly used for abstract painting. Then it developed into a way of painting Disney characters as well.
